Tamara Etterling, Principal

My professional career began in 1993 right here in Hall County. I had the pleasure of beginning my teaching career as a special education teacher at East Hall Middle School and then at Chestnut Mountain Elementary. I had wonderful training as an assistant principal at Chestnut Mountain Elementary.  From there I served as principal at Martin Technology Academy of Math and Science for 11 years where I learned to build relationships, to collectively create a process to ensure best practices, and to dream a school.
I received my B.A. in Special Education at Jacksonville State University, my M.A. in Early Childhood Education at North Georgia College, and my Ed. S. in Leadership and Instruction at Lincoln Memorial University.
I am excited to serve the North Hall community where we will strive to create problem solvers and to prepare our Trojans for the everchanging world. Our teachers will actively engage students in learning and work collaboratively with the students and parents. At NHMS, parents are seen as valued partners in their child’s education. Your connection to our school is imperative for your child’s success.
I look forward to continuing to work with our dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational programs for our students.  Should you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please know I am here to have that dialogue with you.  Again, I’m privileged and honored to be your partner in your child’s education.

I grew up in the North Hall community. After graduating from North Hall High School, I attended Brenau University where I earned a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have worked in Hall County for the past 16 years, where I have had many opportunities to serve the families of this school system. I have taught multiple grade levels at the elementary levels, and was able to spend a year at the high school level. I served as an adjunct teacher in the College of Education at the University of North Georgia, where I loved getting to work with pre- service teachers. After becoming an Instructional Coach five years ago, I decided to attend Valdosta State University where I obtained my Education Specialist’s Degree in Leadership.   I am so excited to be back in the North Hall Cluster, and serving this community.

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have 5 wonderful children, Matthew, Bailey, Jake, Lawson, and Nolee. I love to travel, especially to the beach.

Dean DeVito, Assistant Principal

I began my career as an educator in 2001 after I graduated from the University of South Florida.  My first job was as a high school teacher in Florida, and it wasn’t until 2006 when my family moved to Georgia…I have been working with the students of NHMS ever since.

I moved into administration after a 12 year tenure teaching at NHMS that included time working as: a Special Education teacher, the co-lead Special Education teacher, a teacher of 7th grade Math, the co-coordinator of the Earhart-Edison STEM Academy and the head wrestling coach.  I look forward to many more years serving the Trojan community as a part of the administrative team.
